About HITH
Hospital in the Home (HITH) is a multi-disciplinary team providing 7 day/week home-based services and aligns with a key direction of providing more care outside the hospital. Within HITH there has been developed a new model of care to see a higher acuity HITH program utilising virtual care. Virtual Care operates to care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, atrial fibrillation and post cardiac surgery care, caring for them in their home environment, in a multidisciplinary team setting.
About the role
As the Hospital in the Home (HITH) Virtual Care Cardiologist you will be responsible for comprehensive clinical care and high-level medical leadership to support the patients and services of HITH and Virtual Care. The Cardiologist will be expected to be able to provide routine specialist services and cover after hours “on call” as determined by the Director, HITH and Virtual Care. This is a senior medical position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as administrative requirements.
- Hours per week: Two positions of 5.0 hours per week each
- Employment status: Ongoing
- Appointment period: Commencing early August 2025
- Additional notes: Weekend On Call will be paid in addition
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrate a commitment to Austin Health values
- Current Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, with ideally specialisation in cardiology and a focus on heart failure
- Have appropriate training and experience applicable to undertake the define scope of practice
- A commitment to quality, excellence and best practice in the delivery of clinical services to Austin Health patients (including inpatient services, outpatient services, diagnostic and interventional services as appropriate)
