About Surgery, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine Division
The Surgery, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine Division (SAPM) is responsible for over 50,000 procedures per year being delivered to the community serviced by Austin Health. This includes both elective & emergency surgeries and endoscopy procedures across 11 operating theatres & 3 endoscopy rooms at the Austin site (AOS) and 8 operating theatres & 3 endoscopy rooms at The Surgery Centre (TSC). Endoscopy services treat over 7,000 elective patients per annum.
About the role
Oversee and coordinate the management of Endoscopy Services in accordance with the Planned Surgery Access Policy (PSAP) across Austin Health and, when applicable, external healthcare facilities under contractual arrangements with Austin. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Developing models of care for each patient cohort, in collaboration with units and relevant sites
- Coordinating and planning end-to-end processes for all endoscopy activities
- Delivering a safe, high-quality experience for patients
- Acting as the primary point of contact for all work undertaken in this capacity
A regular day will see you:
- Ensuring all endoscopy sessions are fully utilised
- Monitoring treat in turn and patients waiting over their clinically recommended timeframes
- Capacity management
- Managing a team of advanced practice liaison nurses
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the Endoscopy Services booking processes/ principals, The Victorian State Guidelines for Endoscopy, the Planned Surgery Access Policy (PSAP) and key performance indicators related to Endoscopy Services.
- Experience in planning and organising.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
