About Endocrinology department
Austin Health’s Department of Endocrinology is seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant Endocrinologist to join our dynamic and expanding service, with a primary focus on the General Endocrine Clinic.
Our service delivers innovative models of care including the Rapid Access Diabetes Clinic and the Obesity Medical Weight Management Program. Each year we manage 20–30 inpatient referrals weekly and deliver care to more than 4,000 outpatients.
We have strong academic and research links through the University of Melbourne and run a leading Endocrine Clinical Trials Unit, alongside active involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The department is also supported by a highly skilled Diabetes Nurse Education team, providing integrated and person-centred care across adult and paediatric populations.
About the role
This senior medical position offers the opportunity to contribute to clinical excellence, research, and education in endocrinology. Reporting to the Director of Endocrinology, you will:
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient specialist care.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call roster.
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision of trainees.
- Actively engage in departmental research and clinical trials.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical audit, and accreditation activities.
- Support departmental policy development and service planning.
- Collaborate with allied health and multidisciplinary teams in the management of chronic endocrine conditions.
About you
As the Consultant Endocrinologist , You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Endocrinology) and current AHPRA registration.
- Expertise in the comprehensive management of endocrine inpatients and outpatients, with a focus on general endocrinology.
- A collaborative, team-focused approach to working with peers, trainees, and multidisciplinary staff.
- Commitment to teaching, supervision, and mentoring of junior doctors.
