About EMR Services

The Department provides a wide range of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Services to Austin Health staff. The ICT and EMR environment include business critical information systems and multi-campus data and telecommunications networks.  It supports over 8,000 staff, computers, applications, Microsoft Windows, Unix servers and multiple database products and telecommunication devices.

 

The EMR services office is located at the Austin Campus; however, staff are required to work across all Austin Health campuses as required. The EMR team strives for a positive collaborative environment built on trust.  They work towards collective decisions, and they are held accountable for outcomes.

 

About the role 

The EMR Test Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and readiness of changes to Austin Health’s Electronic Medical Record (Cerner / Oracle Health Millennium). This role leads testing strategy, governance, and execution across projects and business‑as‑usual releases, working closely with clinical, operational, technical, and vendor stakeholders to ensure EMR changes are clinically safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Leading and coordinating end‑to‑end testing activities for EMR projects and releases, including UAT, integration, regression, and go‑live readiness assessments
  • Partnering with clinicians, business owners, and vendors to plan, execute, and sign off testing outcomes
  • Embedding clinical safety and risk‑based testing practices across workflows, interfaces, and system changes
  • Managing test governance artefacts, environments, data, defects, and release readiness reporting
  • Providing clear status updates and decision‑ready insights to EMR and organisational governance forums
