About Austin Health Pathology
Austin Health Pathology is committed to providing high quality patient care through routine and complex diagnostic services, expert advice and support for teaching, training and research.
Austin Pathology provides Chemical Pathology services at the main tertiary Austin Hospital primary Heidelberg campus, and the other Austin Health campuses, and for the tertiary Mercy Heidelberg Hospital.
In addition, Austin Pathology has 5 regional laboratories at Bendigo, Goulburn Valley Shepparton, Mildura, Swan Hill & Echuca Hospitals, and also provides Point of Care testing across numerous smaller hospitals and sites in regional Victoria.
Our primary major laboratory site at Heidelberg now also includes a Pharmacology Laboratory, utilising LC-MS testing platforms.

About the role
You will be responsible for:
- Be responsible for NATA/RCPA accreditation of our Biochemistry Laboratories, and Point of Care facilities.
- Providing teaching, including the training and supervision of Chemical Pathology Registrars in Advanced Training.
- Promote, support and undertake research.
- Be responsible for setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators.
- Provide an on-call service as required.
- Provide supervision visits to the regional laboratories as required to fulfil the supervision requirements of NPAAC & NATA.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Be a registered Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Hold current Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Chemical Pathology or its recognised equivalent.
- Have relevant experience applicable to a leadership role in Chemical Pathology.
- Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care.
- Provide evidence of up to date compliance with Continued Professional Development requirements.
