About the department
Fundraising is a vital activity for Victorian health services, providing essential revenue beyond government funding. At Austin Health, the Austin Health Foundation leads all fundraising efforts, including donations, sponsorships, capital campaigns, and grant applications. Fundraising supports medical equipment, research, education, and patient care initiatives.
The Volunteer Engagement team oversees the recruitment, onboarding, and support of volunteers. They also assist staff in effectively engaging volunteers across Austin Health programs.
About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary executive to lead the Austin Health Foundation – our dedicated fundraising and volunteer engagement arm. This role provides regular exposure to the Executive and Board and the opportunity to shape how philanthropy and volunteering contribute to Austin Health’s future.
Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy, Sustainability and Engagement Officer, the Director, Austin Health Foundation will:
- Drive the development and delivery of a fundraising strategy with a revenue target of ~$9m annually.
- Lead the Austin Health Volunteers program, creating meaningful roles that enhance patient and family experiences.
- Provide trusted advice to the CEO, Board and Executive on philanthropic opportunities and performance.
- Build and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate partners, philanthropic bodies and community stakeholders.
- Strengthen Austin Health’s fundraising brand and deliver innovative campaigns to grow philanthropic support
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence and teamwork. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring with you:
- Proven experience in leading large-scale fundraising or development programs.
- A track record of working with Boards, senior executives and major donors to deliver results.
- Strong financial and business planning acumen, with budget oversight experience.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional leadership capability, able to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
