About the department
The Corporate Communications function protects and enhances Austin Health’s reputation, communicates effectively with internal and external audiences, and builds employee engagement and connection. The team provides strategic communications advice and support to the executive team, divisions and departments.
The team manages various communications activities including media relations, issues and crisis management, brand and reputation management, stakeholder relations, government relations, internal communications, event management, and channel management (website, intranet and social media).
About the role
We are seeking an accomplished communications leader to shape and protect our reputation while driving organisational engagement and influence. As Director, Corporate Communications, you will report directly to the Chief Strategy, Sustainability and Engagement Officer and provide counsel to the CEO, Executive and Board on matters of communication strategy, brand, reputation and issues management.
This role leads a high-performing team responsible for:
- Strategic corporate communications and brand positioning
- Media relations, issues and crisis management
- Internal communications and employee engagement
- Executive and Board communications support
- Government and stakeholder relations
- Channel and digital content management (website, intranet, social media)
You will shape clear, consistent, and compelling messaging that builds trust with stakeholders, enhances Austin Health’s profile, and strengthens employee pride and connection.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring with you:
- Extensive experience in corporate affairs/communications at executive level
- A strong track record in issues and crisis management
- Expertise in developing and executing integrated communications strategies
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at Board, government and community level
- Strong leadership capability, with the ability to inspire, coach and develop teams
