• Grade 2 Dietitian 

• Part Time, Fixed Term, 24 hours per week, parental leave backfill  

• Start date: 18 September 2025.  End date: 2 October 2026 

• Primary work allocation includes Transitional Care Program, nutritional specialist and medical weight control clinics. 

• Main location is Heidelberg Repatriation Centre in Heidelberg   

• Pay range as per AJ1-AJ4 classification $47.81 – $54.10 per hour + salary packaging + super + higher qualification allowance if applicable.

About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department 

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is part of the Allied Health division, which employs over 1,000 health professionals across 27 disciplines, broadly known as the therapies and sciences, who work as key members of the multidisciplinary team aiming to provide the best outcomes for patients via preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of healthcare conditions.  

Our department has around 55 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs.  We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education. Our work environment is vibrant and fast paced and we are a friendly and supportive team. We have many highly skilled and experienced dietitians who lead our clinical teams - specialist medicine, oncology, surgical/ICU/gastro, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute and ambulatory care, and portfolios - staff education, quality, research, student training, food service, nutrition support and workforce operations.  

About the role  

As the Grade 2 Dietitian, Home Based Programs and Ambulatory Care, you will work as part of the Home-Based Programs and Ambulatory Care streams under the direction of the Senior Clinician stream leader.  The Home-Based Programs stream includes services to Better at Home, Better at Home Acute, Transitional Care Program and Health Independence Programs, and the Ambulatory Care stream includes outpatient services for the nutrition specialist, medical weight control, high risk foot and endocrinology clinics. 

These streams are exciting areas for growth and development, each program/clinic is unique and interesting, and have great teams to collaborate with.  

Your primary workload allocation will be Transition Care Program (TCP) as well as nutrition specialist and medical weight control clinics. 

You will be primarily based on the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital site as part of a team of 9 dietitians who work in the inpatient sub-acute, ambulatory and home-based streams. Home visits and attendance at Aerolife Twin Parks Aged Care Centre will be required, and other cross campus travel may be required. 

Your workload allocation may vary according to operational needs across the stream and the department.  

You will be working 24 hours per week (0.63 FTE), across three to four days, with roster including Friday, and ideally Wednesday and Thursday. 

 
About you 

You will be a proactive dietitian who ideally has experience in home-based care with strong communication skills, and a strong commitment to excellence in patient-centred care. You’ll be adaptable with a passion for supporting patients to achieve their health and recovery goals in both the outpatient and home setting. 

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you: 

• Experience to deliver comprehensive nutrition assessments and interventions tailored to patients in outpatient and home-based programs. 
• An ability to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and coordinated care as well has having the ability to work autonomously. 
• A passion for learning and service improvement. 
• Strong time management and organisation skills to manage different caseloads.
