  • Great opportunity for an enthusiastic Grade 1 Dietitian who is looking to further their acute clinical skills in a supportive team  
  • Fixed Term, part time position working 32 hours per week across 4 days with RDO Wednesday from May 2025 to June 2026
  • Primarily located at Austin campus but may require regular offsite travel to dialysis 
  • Pay range as per AI1 to AI7 + salary packaging + super + higher qualification allowance if applicable

About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department 

We are part of the Allied Health division, which employs over 1,000 health professionals across 27 disciplines, broadly known as the therapies and sciences, who work as key members of the multidisciplinary team aiming to provide the best outcomes for patients via preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of healthcare conditions.

 

The Nutrition and Dietetics department has around 50 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs. We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education.

 

Our work environment is vibrant and fast paced and we are a friendly and supportive team. We have many highly skilled and experienced dietitians who lead our clinical teams (specialist medicine, oncology, surgical/ICU/gastro, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute and ambulatory care), and department-wide portfolios (staff education, quality, research, student training, food service, nutrition support, workforce).  

 

About the role 

You will be primarily based at the acute site and will work as part of our Specialist Medicine Stream which includes designated Senior Clinician Stream Leaders. This stream includes services to numerous units including general medicine, renal, respiratory, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, stroke, vascular surgery, neurosurgery and spinal, amongst others. The stream is supportive and enthusiastic and encourages growth and reflection.   

 

Your primary workload allocation will include renal, renal transplant and general medicine inpatient units as well as dialysis. Your workload may also include other specialist medicine stream inpatient units and/or outpatient clinic. You will also have opportunities to contribute to quality improvement work and to be a student buddy as part of this role. 

 

Your workload allocation may vary according to operational needs across the stream and the department. You will be working 32 hours per week across 4 days, with a rostered day off on Wednesdays. This role is suitable for dietitians with at least one year of clinical experience in an inpatient setting. 

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you: 

  • At least one year of inpatient clinical experience 
  • Fantastic counselling skills and a commitment to patient centred care 
  • A passion for working with patients with chronic kidney disease across different stages of care  
  • Strong organisational skills, efficient workload management and the ability to prioritise
