About the Pharmacy department
The Pharmacy Department sits within the Division of the Chief Medical Officer and provides comprehensive high-quality care to Austin Health patients and supports other members of the healthcare team in all aspects of medicines management. The department consists of a skilled team of pharmacists, technicians and support staff working across all three campuses of Austin Health to ensure patients receive excellent care
About the role
We’re looking for a dynamic, people‑focused leader to help shape the future of pharmacy services at Austin Health. This is a brand new role with a chance to put your stamp on how we deliver safe, smart, innovative medicines management across three campuses. You will work across diverse clinical areas, campuses, and projects, gaining variety and breadth in your work. A regular day will see you:
- Guiding the operational direction of our pharmacy services
- Coaching, supporting and developing a talented workforce
- Driving initiatives and service improvement
- Helping shape budgets, strategies and big-picture planning
- Building strong relationships across Austin Health and representing the Pharmacy Department at key forums
- Supporting research, training and education activities within the team
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- An experienced hospital pharmacist (8+ years) with a strong passion for leading, coaching and empowering people
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and can juggle competing priorities
- Strategic thinker with the ability to solve problems creatively
- A solid understanding of hospital pharmacy operations, governance and medicines management
- Commitment to safety, quality, improvement and professional excellence
- A background in research, publications, teaching or clinical trials is a bonus but not essential.
