About the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLP).
This team forms part of the Specialty Services Directorate of the Mental Health Division at Austin Health. CLP is a tri-disciplinary team made up of medical, nursing and psychology staff that provides expert mental health assessment and interventions to general hospital consumers with concurrent mental health conditions. It also provides expert mental health advice, education, and support to general hospital staff in the care of consumers with concurrent mental health conditions and on mental health related topics, projects, policy, guidelines, and service development.
About the role
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Consultation Liaison Psychiatric Nurse - RPN4 permanent part time.
The Psychiatric Liaison nurse is based at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre, Kew, and will provide mental health expertise, education, reflective practice to Mellor, ABI and Spinal Rehabilitation units.
A regular day will see you:
- Provide a senior clinical role within the consultation liaison team service providing interventions in relation to complex clinical issues that includes dual diagnosis and the development of clinical management plans for patients with concurrent medical morbidity.
- Lead others to develop skills in comprehensive care planning to maximise patient outcomes and achieve goals of care.
- Lead and advise in partnership with multidisciplinary team, to address abnormalities in assessment information in all clinical situations.

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in consumer care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Nurses must have a Post-Graduate Qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent.
