About the Department

The Hypertension and Hypotension clinics are run by the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Medical & Cancer Services Division, providing an inpatient, outpatient and consultancy service.

 

About the role

This is a senior Medical Position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as administrative requirements. The position reports to the Director of Clinical Pharmacology. This position is covering long service leave in the Tuesday Hypertension Outpatients Clinic for 3.5 hours per week.

 

A regular day will see you:

  • Undertake direct patient management in the Hypertension outpatients clinic
  • Maintain contemporary best practice, personal technical expertise, medical knowledge & clinical skills
  • To assist the Director in administrative duties as required
  • To assist in the evaluation of the delivery of services and in implementing appropriate quality and risk management initiatives
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum.

As a Hypertension Clinic Physician, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to Clinical Governance.
  • A commitment to Austin Health values
  • Must be a registered Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Hold a Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists
  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to undertake the defined scope of practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care
  • Demonstrated commitment and ongoing activity in research and/or clinical audit activities
  • Involvement in teaching and training of medical, technical and nursing staff, including at undergraduate and post-graduate level
