About the Rehabilitation Medicine Department
The Continuing Care division includes Rehabilitation Medicine, Aged Care, community services and specialist clinics. Rehabilitation Medicine provides consults to the acute campus, inpatient rehabilitation services at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre and Rehab@Home in the community. Rehabilitation Medicine also provides the Statewide ABI service (together with Caulfield Hospital) and multiple outpatient clinics.
About the role
Working 11 hours per week as the Consult Rehab Medicine, you will provide a specialised Rehabilitation Medicine service to Austin Health. Specifically:
- A consults service, reviewing acute patients;
- A disability service, assessing Austin patients living with long term disability and keeping them well in the community;
- Education of Rehab medicine Advanced Trainees;
- Covering consultant leave in the Amputee, Orthopaedic & General Rehabilitation inpatient unit.
A regular day will see you:
- Provide comprehensive management of rehabilitation consults and patients attending the Disability clinic;
- Participate in Unit meetings and activities, as needed;
- Provide an on-call service as required;
- Teaching advanced trainees.
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Rehabilitation Medicine;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
- A commitment to research and/or clinical audit activities;
- Involvement in teaching and training of medical staff, including at undergraduate and post-graduate level.
