About the Consultant Liaison Psychiatry department

The Consultant Liaison (CL) Psychiatry department sits within the Specialty Service directorate and provides hospital and community based psychological interventions. CL accepts referrals from wards and medical clinics across Austin health and Repat for assessment and management to patients and their families, providing consultation to ward staff on request. 

 

About the role 

The Grade 4 Clinical Psychologist constitutes a key clinical role within CL Psychiatry. Responsibilities will include clinical assessments and interventions for consumers across Austin Health medical wards. In addition, the position also contributes to program development, leadership, teaching, supervision and service delivery.

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Function in a clinical role and a student supervision role. 
  • Work across Divisions and Services to support effective clinical care, quality and safety of care, and excellent staff and student experience. 
  • Participate in innovating, implementing and translating best practice treatment interventions across the health system in hospitals. 

 

About you 

As the Clinical Psychologist, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

  • Substantial clinical experience of at least 10 years.
  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and current registration and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA.
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a collaborative approach to client care and service development/delivery.
