About Psychology and Cancer Services 

Austin Health is one of the largest cancer service providers in Victoria, with a well-developed culture of pioneering novel cancer treatments. Austin Health provides a complete range of services to cancer patients and their families. This includes medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer genetics, clinical haematology and palliative medicine.  

 

Wellness and supportive care and arts in healthcare are also integral components of the service. These are all provided in an environment that integrates research, teaching and training, in the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre (ONJ Centre) at Austin Hospital.  

 

The Psychology Department promotes the highest level of care for our patients. The department leads and excels in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. As a team based in General Health, we work with a range of medical specialists and allied health professionals collaborating to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to provide outpatient specialist psychological assessment and intervention to oncology patients within the ONJ Centre at Austin Hospital. You will be working within a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and other allied health disciplines to provide best practice care for clients undergoing cancer treatment. We offer a supportive environment including supervision and professional development opportunities. This is a part time (three days a week) fixed term, 12 month position until Jan 2027.  

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Providing comprehensive psychological care to oncology patients within the Clinical Psychology service at the ONJ Centre.   
  • Adopting a flexible approach to caseload management and involvement in patient centred individual and group intervention.   
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across the divisions.  
  • Involvement in service evaluations and quality improvement initiatives of the psycho-oncology service.    

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

  • A Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist; 
  • Experience providing comprehensive psychological care within a health or hospital based setting.  
  • Knowledge and skills working with oncology clients.  
  • High level interpersonal skills that promote teamwork and engagement.  
  • For appointment at a Grade 3 level, candidates should have at least five years’ clinical experience and AHPRA approved supervisor status.
