About the Department

This position is located across both the Child Inpatient Unit (CIPU) and the Adolescent Inpatient Unit (AIPU). Both units are part of Austin Health’s Infant Child and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS). They both provide services to children and young people from metropolitan and regional areas of Victoria, NSW and Tasmania.

 

About the role 

An opportunity exists for a contemporary and highly experienced mental health nurse to join the Mental Health Nursing Education and Training Team as a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC).

As the CNC – ICYMHS you will be central in providing high level consultancy to both the Adolescent Inpatient Unit and Child Inpatient Unit, demonstrating superior consolidated clinical skills.

 

A regular day will see you:

  • Providing high level clinical consultancy to the Nurse Unit managers in the assessment, planning and delivery of recovery focused nursing care of consumers on the inpatient units.
  • Implementation of specific Department of Health and Human Services initiatives and frameworks.
  • Supporting our early career workforce through collaboration with Clinical Nurse Educators and Nurse Unit Managers.

 

About you 

As the CNC, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • A relevant Masters in Mental Health Nursing or be willing to work towards
  • Substantial clinical experience in Infant, Child and Youth mental health
  • Ability to implement, and lead and support change
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidenced based practice, research and quality improvement activities in a work setting.
