About the Social Work Department

The Social Work Department is based within the Allied Health Division comprised of nine therapies and five services. Clinical services are provided across the three main sites and including community or home-based services. The Social Work Department is committed to working with and enabling consumers and their families to achieve the best outcomes possible. The Department is also focused on developing the professional body of knowledge and evidence-based practice of staff across a range of areas to ensure high quality service provision. 

 

About the role 

The Social Work Clinical Educator, Grade 3 is recognised as a senior clinician in the department and will support and facilitate quality evidence-based education which is innovative and responsive to the needs of Allied Health professions, with a focus on Social Work staff and students on fieldwork placements. This role will work collaboratively as a member of the Social Work leadership team, in collaboration with the Allied Health Clinical Education Unit (CEU) to develop, implement and evaluate education strategies that support contemporary and emerging clinical practice, and continuous professional development and growth, and clinical excellence.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Development, delivery and evaluation of contemporary evidence-based clinical education programs that align with Allied Health Clinical Education Unit (CEU) programs and Social Work Department Strategic priorities, including continuous improvement
  • Coordination and delivery of education programs which are consistent and enhance clinical and non-clinical capability needs of clinicians and students in the Social Work Department and compliance with policies, procedures and legislation
  • Support the Social Work fieldwork placement program through coordination and collaboration with education partners and stakeholders and social work clinicians  
  • Clinically support, develop and supervise Social Work staff
  • Partner with the Social Work Manager and leadership team in a range of activities that support operational management, department planning and development, strategic planning, policy development, and compliance

 

About you 

As the Social Work Clinical Educator, you will be someone who has excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset. You’ll be organised and able to work autonomously and contribute positively in teams to achieve outcomes. You will demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and supporting ongoing development and capability across the Social Work Department, including the delivery of high-quality education programs.

 

You’ll further bring with you: 

  • Approved degree in Social Work and eligible for membership of the AASW (Australian Association of Social Work)
  • Allied Health qualification (at least 7 years’ experience within professional discipline),
  • Experience and expertise in the provision of clinical education, supervision, and mentoring to staff and students
  • Knowledge and applied understanding of adult learning theories and principles in the workplace
  • Advanced knowledge of legislative frameworks and requirements (such as Family Violence, Child Safety, VCAT and NDIS) and successful examples of integrating these into clinical practice, as well as developing clinical and professional capability in others
