About the Mental Health Division

Austin Health’s Mental Health Division provides care and services through a comprehensive range of teams to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria. Services in the MH Division are located across Austin Health and in the community. These services include:

 

  • Adult & Older Adult Mental Health Services
  • Infant, Child & Youth Mental Health Services (ICYMHS)
  • Specialty Mental Health Services

All Mental Health Services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-oriented practice and supported decision making. This approach to client wellbeing builds on the strengths of the individual working in partnership with their treating team. It encompasses the principles of self-determination and individualised treatment and care.

As a Clinical Director, you will work collaboratively with a supportive team of professionals, who are passionate about providing best practice care for consumers. You’ll enjoy our continuing education and quality improvement strategy, which is developed through leadership forums and committees. You’ll join a friendly and supportive team who genuinely enjoy their work and the contribution they make.

 

Reporting to the Medical Director, Mental Health Division, this presents an exciting opportunity to take up a senior leadership role within the Mental Health Division. The Clinical Director is expected to lead and develop the Mental Health Specialty Services directorate, incorporating the Brain Disorders Program, Psychological Trauma Recovery Service, Transitional Support Unit and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, to achieve goals and objectives consistent with the strategic plan of Austin Health and reflecting the vision and mission statements of our organization. In collaboration with the Mental Health Divisional Medical Director, the Clinical Director is responsible for the leadership and direction of the services including clinical treatment, teaching, research, financial and human resource management.

 

To be successful for this role you must:

 

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Hold a Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent
  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Psychiatry
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum, and
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching, training and research.
