About the Department

The Podiatry and High-Risk Foot Service operates across all sites and campuses of Austin Health including the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Center.  We provide services within specialist outpatient clinics and admitted inpatient streams, both at home and in hospital.    


The service implements and delivers high quality evidence-based assessment and intervention for acute and chronic foot conditions.  We partner with our clients to deliver best practice care in the community or hospital setting, aiming to reduce or prevent clinical deterioration, complications and time in hospital.  We collaborate broadly with teams across our health network to ensure integrated, patient centered care is well coordinated.   

 

The large multi-disciplinary team works in a collaborative model including Endocrinology, Infectious diseases, Vascular Surgery, Orthotics, Dietetics and Diabetes Education.  Our Podiatry team consists of a Podiatry Manager, High Risk foot service clinical coordinator, senior podiatry staff and administration ensuring the successful candidate is well supported.

 A regular day will see you:

  • Deliver best practice assessment and intervention for complex high risk foot clients across busy inpatient and outpatient streams  
  • Collaborate with teams within our health network and the community to ensure effective, coordinated care is delivered  
  • Participate in supervision, innovation and professional development
