An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellow to join our Cardiology Department for a 12-month Fellowship position from February 2025.

The Cardiology Department is responsible for the provision of an extensive range of cardiac services to inpatients and outpatients including general cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure service, echocardiography, cardiac catheterisation, structural heart disease and interventional procedures, and non-invasive diagnostic procedures.

Details of position/position requirements:

  • The Austin EP unit is a busy tertiary referral unit and has a large workload in the area of catheter ablation of supraventricular tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. This includes complex EP procedures with high-density 3-D mapping systems. We perform a large number of device implantations including permanent pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices and other novel device therapies.
  • The successful applicant will undergo training in the area of clinical electrophysiology in the EP laboratory, participate in ward EP consultations and attend the arrhythmia outpatient clinic and device clinic. Further participation includes clinical unit meetings, clinical audits, teaching seminars, and the cardiac genetics meeting.
  • The Austin EP unit has research interests in the areas of atrial fibrillation, stroke in atrial fibrillation and sudden cardiac death.  Participation in research activities is expected.
  • Applications for a clinical EP fellowship in combination with a research EP fellowship leading to a higher degree will be viewed favourably.  To achieve these training goals, the fellowship position could be extended for a further two to three years.
  • Applicants are encouraged to register your interest with the department early, prior to the closing date.
