We have a highly engaged, diverse and collaborative workforce that is unified by our goal to help people live healthy and fulfilled lives.

About the department

People & Culture is one of seven divisions reporting to the Chief Executive Officer at Austin Health. Based at the Repatriation Campus, HR Shared Services is an enablement function that delivers accurate and efficient HR services across the organisation.

The department is currently executing a significant HR Service Delivery Transformation Program, a phased initiative targeting five critical operational gaps across case management, knowledge management, service ownership, performance measurement, and stakeholder feedback. The Foundation Phase establishes the infrastructure and capabilities required to unlock all subsequent phases, including self-service portals, SuccessFactors optimisation, and future AI and automation capabilities.

About the role

This is a hands-on technical role at the heart of Austin Health’s a strategically significant People & Culture initiative. As the Atlassian Platform Specialist, you will be the primary technical resource responsible for configuring and building the JIRA Service Management and Confluence platforms that will underpin a transformed HR service delivery model.

Reporting to the HR Transformation Program Lead, you will translate business requirements into reliable, well-configured platform solutions, building custom workflows, SLA frameworks, automated dashboards, and a centralised HR knowledge base from the ground up. You will also manage content migration, perform end-to-end testing, and provide technical support during rollout and hypercare.

A regular day will see you:

  • Configure and build JIRA Service Management projects, designing custom workflows, request types, SLA metrics, breach alerts, automation rules, permission schemes, and CSAT surveys to support HR case management and service delivery.
  • Implement and administer the Confluence knowledge base, designing the space structure, migrating HR policies and guidance documents, configuring permissions, establishing templates, and linking articles to JIRA SM request types.
  • Design and build automated reporting dashboards in JIRA SM covering SLA compliance, ticket volumes, resolution times, first contact resolution, case ageing, and CSAT scores.
  • Support service catalogue development by mapping existing HR service types, documenting current-state processes, and configuring JIRA SM routing rules aligned to the service ownership matrix.
  • Perform end-to-end testing of workflows, automations, SLAs, and integrations prior to go-live; providing hands-on technical support to HR staff during rollout and the hypercare period; and documenting all configurations and build decisions in Confluence.

About you

You are a detail-driven technical specialist who loves getting into a platform and making it work exactly as it should. You’re confident translating business requirements into practical configurations, you take pride in clean, well-documented builds, and you bring the patience and communication skills to support non-technical users through change.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

  • Hands-on experience configuring and administering JIRA Service Management, including workflows, SLAs, automation rules, request types, permission schemes, and dashboards
  • Experience implementing and administering Confluence, including space design, page hierarchies, permissions, templates, and content migration.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into effective, reliable platform configurations, and to troubleshoot issues under pressure.
  • Experience building reporting dashboards and data visualisations using JIRA SM native tools and/or Confluence analytics, combined with solid data skills (including Excel) for migration and baseline metric work.
  • The ability to work within agile delivery frameworks, contribute to sprint planning, meet sprint commitments, and collaborate effectively with a small cross-functional project team.
