About the Pharmacy department
The Pharmacy Department sits within the Division of the Chief Medical Officer and provides comprehensive high-quality care to Austin Health patients and supports other members of the healthcare team in all aspects of medicines management. The department consists of a skilled team of pharmacists, technicians and support staff working across all three campuses of Austin Health to ensure patients receive excellent care
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and forward thinking pharmacy leader to join our team as Associate Director of Pharmacy Operations. This is a newly created leadership role responsible for coordinating high quality, efficient and innovative operational pharmacy services across our three campuses.
You will report to and work closely with the Deputy Director of Pharmacy – Operations to drive service excellence, support workforce capability, and contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the future of pharmacy services at Austin Health.
In this new role, responsibilities include:
- Safe, efficient and innovative operational pharmacy services across multiple campuses.
- Workforce capability, including rostering, credentialing and staff development.
- Implementation of strategic goals that lift service quality, medication safety and digital health maturity.
- Financial performance, including monitoring KPIs and supporting budget strategies.
- Continuous improvement, risk management and compliance with legislation and accreditation standards.
- Representation of Pharmacy across committees, leadership forums and external organisations.
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- At least 8 years’ hospital pharmacy experience with proven leadership capability.
- Strong operational management skills across people, performance and financial oversight.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
- Deep understanding of hospital pharmacy services, medication safety and quality improvement.
- Commitment to professional development, education and evidence‑based practice.
- AHPRA registration and relevant postgraduate qualifications
