About the Podiatry and High Risk Foot Service

The Podiatry and High Risk Foot Service operates across all sites and campuses of Austin Health including the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.  We provide services within specialist outpatient clinics and admitted inpatient streams, both at home and in hospital.    
 
The service implements and delivers high quality evidence-based assessment and intervention for acute and chronic foot conditions.  We partner with our clients to deliver best practice care in the community or hospital setting, aiming to reduce or prevent clinical deterioration, complications and time in hospital.  We collaborate broadly with teams across our health network to ensure integrated, patient cantered care is well coordinated.   

 

The large multi-disciplinary team works in a collaborative model including Endocrinology, Infectious diseases, Vascular Surgery, Orthotics, Dietetics and Diabetes Education.  Our Podiatry team consists of a Podiatry Manager, High Risk foot service clinical coordinator, senior podiatry staff and administration ensuring the successful candidate is well supported.    

 

About the role 

As the Allied Health Assistant , you will support the Podiatry and High-Risk Foot Service by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical tasks that enhance service delivery, efficiency and contribute to positive patient outcomes.

 

You will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team and community partners to support coordinated care. In addition, AHAs have opportunities to participate in departmental research, quality improvement initiatives and support service development projects.

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Supporting the service and delivering care across busy inpatient and outpatient streams  
  • Working closely within the interdisciplinary team collaborating across our health network and the community  
  • Participating in supervision, innovation, research and professional development
