About Ability@Austin
Ability@Austin is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider within Austin Health. We deliver specialist supports to people with complex disabilities, operating across both hospital and community settings. The service sits across the Allied Health and Continuing Care Directorates and is regulated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
Ability@Austin provides NDIS supports across a range of specialist programs, including:
- Home Enteral Nutrition
- Orthotics and Prosthetics
- Spinal Cord Injury Services (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Seating & Posture)
- Community Tracheostomy Management
- Upper Limb Program
- Creative and Leisure Therapies
About the role
As an Allied Health Assistant (Grade 3), you will contribute to a high-quality NDIS participant experience by delivering delegated clinical and administrative supports under the supervision of allied health clinicians.
This role has a strong focus on Home Enteral Nutrition supports, with approximately three days per week dedicated to this program, alongside broader Ability@Austin activities. You will play a key role in supporting participant journeys, coordinating appointments, preparing clinics, and maintaining high‑quality communication between Participants and the care team.
A regular day will see you:
- Support Participants to receive high‑quality NDIS supports across site‑based and community settings
- Assist with participant onboarding and appointment coordination
- Prepare and support Dietitian-led clinics
- Provide basic participant education and act as a key communication link between Participants and the care team
- Support a clear, consistent and efficient NDIS Participant journey through effective administration
- Assist with invoicing, reporting, drafting quotes and monitoring tracking plan review reports
- Accurately document interventions in the medical record in line with medico‑legal and organisational requirements
- Engage in education and training to ensure practice is current, evidence‑based and safe
About you
You are organised, proactive and people‑focused, with a genuine interest in supporting people with disability. You enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team while being confident managing your own workload.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent), or working towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in allied health
- Experience, interest or qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics will be highly regarded
- A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (essential)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously, problem‑solve and manage competing priorities
- A flexible, positive approach and willingness to undertake both clinical and non‑clinical tasks
- An understanding of the basic principles of Dietetics in a hospital setting
