As a junior doctor at Austin Health, you’ll rotate through a diverse range of clinical areas across our three main sites — Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre. Your training spans major programs including:

Medical education
As a junior doctor at Austin Health, you’ll have access to comprehensive training, education and assessment programs designed to help you build confidence, strengthen your clinical skills and progress toward your chosen vocational pathway. Our focus is on supporting you through your pre‑vocational and basic training years, with additional learning opportunities available to registrars and senior medical staff when they enhance the junior doctor experience.
You’ll benefit from an integrated education network delivered in partnership with Northern Health, Bendigo Health and Echuca Regional Health, giving you exposure to diverse clinical environments. We understand the pressure early‑career doctors face, so our Medical Education team provides structured support that builds on your undergraduate training and helps you grow safely and successfully in your role.
Our interactive training program ensures you meet your educational requirements while developing strong core clinical capabilities that set you up for the next stage of your career.
International Medical Graduate (IMG) Observer Program
We offer a 12‑month program designed to support international medical graduates transitioning into the Australian healthcare system.
