About Wellness and Supportive Care, Cancer Services
The integrated model of multidisciplinary care within Cancer Services relies on a dynamic, appropriately qualified, and skilled team to support patients undergoing care in both the Inpatient and Ambulatory settings, with a key focus on Integrated Wellness and Supportive Care.
About the role
Oncology Massage Therapy is an important service provided within the Wellness and Supportive Care Program. Working in collaboration with existing part-time Oncology Massage Therapists, this role will provide specialised oncology massage to selected patients with cancer both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The role will collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams to support and care for patients throughout the cancer trajectory.
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

Relevant qualification: e.g., Completed Diploma of Remedial Massage or Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy

Completion of Modules 1 to 4 of the Oncology Massage Training through Oncology Massage Training (www.oncologymassagetraining.com.au) or equivalent. Candidates who have not undertaken this training but have equivalent in expertise and experience working in an oncology setting will be considered.Membership of a relevant professional association i.e., Massage & Myotherapy Association of Australia and/or the Australian Traditional Medicine Society

Minimum 5 years’ experience in the provision of therapeutic massage, including some experience providing therapeutic massage to oncology patients in a community or hospital setting

Demonstrated understanding of the special needs of people with cancer – physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and informational

Demonstrated competence in providing massage support to people of varied social, cultural, and religious backgrounds

Demonstrated competence in implementing and maintaining self-care routines.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both face to face and telephone

Computer skills to enable accurate scheduling, documentation in electronic medical record, recording of appropriate data and preparation of written material for patients and staff.
