About SAPM: 

The Surgery, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine Division (SAPM) is responsible for over 50,000 procedures per year being delivered to the community serviced by Austin Health. This includes planned surgery, emergency surgeries and procedure base care across 11 operating theatres and 4 endoscopy suites at the Austin site (AOS) and 8 operating theatres and 2 endoscopy suites at The Surgery Centre (TSC). 

The endoscopy services preparation list continues to grow year on year. This, along with Austin Health’s increased demand in emergency surgery (14% increase year on year), creates a great deal of pressure to ensure endoscopy patients are treated within their clinically recommended timeframes, whilst enabling emergency surgery and endoscopy access for our patients.  

 

About the Endoscopy Liaison Grade 4 Role:    

Austin Health is seeking a registered nurse to undertake the role of the Endoscopy Nurse Coordinator fixed-term, fulltime parental leave cover until May 2027. The purpose of this role is to prioritise the booking of patients that are referred by the Gastroenterology, Colorectal and Upper GI Units, ensure that a comprehensive preadmission process takes place and reduce potential complications and cancellations for patients unprepared for a procedure. The Endoscopy CNC work within the Endoscopy Bookings Office at the Austin Hospital which is a part of the Surgical, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine Directorate.  

 

About You 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you: 

  • Prior 2 years of experience as an Endoscopy Liaison Nurse and/or Surgical Liaison Nurse 
  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with a minimum of 3 years' experience   
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and clinical skills   
  • Knowledge of the endoscopy liaison nurse role in the planned patient journey 
  • Advanced knowledge of the Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy Victorian Guidelines  
  • Advanced knowledge of Endoscopic procedures   
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a dynamic team  
  • Demonstrated ability to use clinical information systems    
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form   
  • Ability to problem solve in a variety of complex situations
